Copytrax Launch Networked CD and DVD Publishing System

Digital media technology company Copytrax have announced the launch of their Copytrax NS2100 CD, DVD and Blu Ray network publishing system, a system that will enable companies and organisations to efficiently create CD's and DVD's for products such as music, film, software and games, as well as corporate data, presentations and product data. This “Multi-platform” Windows, Mac OS & Linux, Network Connected Machine is capable of copying data to disk and printing on body labels, delivering finished digital media.

"This is a very capable piece of equipment," said Steve Woods, of Copytrax. "It is 'Internet Browser Controlled' so that any permitted person within the company can create the content and label design for the disk and control production from their desktop, wherever they are in the world. The system uses a secure on-line software package (embedded in the machine) that makes the whole process very easy and very flexible."

The Copytrax NS2100 is built to a high standard and delivers professional quality CD and DVD and optional Blu-Ray duplication and high quality on-body print. With both the record and print technology enclosed within a single cabinet, the Copytrax NS2100 looks smart and attractive and is ideal for use in an office or reception area. The new NS2100 comes with a wide range of features that make it ideal for corporate use, such as user login security, label design lock-out, control quotas and job priorities on a user-by-user basis and full system logging that is accessible in real time.

"What is really clever about this particular CD duplicator is the fact that it can accommodate a mix of CD formats," said Steve Woods. "One hopper can hold a stack of DVD's and the other CD's or Blu Ray - the user can then define which format they wish to use. We are confident that for public organisations and the corporate sector, the NS2100 will provide an excellent solution for the professional on-site creation of digital media.

The Copytrax NS2100 can hold 150 discs and is capable of the duplication and full-colour printing of 40 discs per hour. The Copytrax NS2100 can also be used in a stand-alone mode, by the use of the control panel on the front of the machine.

Copytrax Enables a New Generation of Data Security with Self Encrypting Compact Disc

Digital media experts Copytrax have announced that they will be launching a new form of compact disc at GC 2008expo, the leading public sector ICT event in the UK, to be held in London on the 10th and 11th June.

The new CD uses powerful encryption technology to secure data within the CD, only allowing access with the correct password.

"This is a very well thought out and sophisticated technology, explained Steve Woods, Managing Director of Copytrax. "Anyone within an organisation will be able to save files and data to CD and know that without the password, there is absolutely no way anyone will be able to access the data. With the recent media coverage of lost data, we expect this technology to be of particular interest to IT managers in the public sector."

Cambridge based Copytrax are a leader in digital media duplication. They have been at the forefront of this technology since the days of floppy disks and continue to be a world leader in the development of machines that print and duplicate digital media products such as CDs, USB memory sticks and USB business cards. The new CD format is called " CDSoft-R Crytpex " and the encryption engine is contained within each disc, meaning that no software needs to be loaded onto the computer and that the CD will work on any machine.

"With the encryption engine built into each CD, this also means that there is no risk of residual information being left on a computer," said Steve Woods. "Indeed, the system provides a virtual keyboard for password creation, thus avoiding 'key stroke' spying. As I say, it's been well thought out and even the robust physical construction of the disc offers double protection against scratching and ultra violet rays to ensure the data is safe."

Copytrax expects to soon be providing this new CD format to organisations such as health authorities, police departments, council departments, software developers and many other organisations that cannot risk having data fall into the wrong hands. They envisage supplying the new format CDs with the customers' own branding, enabling users to clearly understand who owns the data and to ensure that employees only use encrypted CDs for critical information.

"We think that our new CD format will change the way organisations handle data," said Steve. "Rather than having commerical blank CDs with no markings, we'll be providing customers with high quality, encryptable, branded CDs that clearly indicate ownership, copyright obligations and the fact that without the password the CD will be of no value whatsoever."

GC 2008expo is the leading public sector ICT event in the UK and provides IT managers with access to new technology and new ideas to help them undertake future projects. Copytrax will be exhibiting a range of digital media reproduction technologies. The event takes place at Earls Court, London on the 10 th and 11 th June. www.gcexpo.com

Copytrax Project 37D CD Printer To Address Mid Volume CD and DVD Printing Market

Pioneers in digital print technology, Copytrax, have announced the release of their Project 37D CD and DVD printer that has been designed to address the market for mid volume CD and DVD printing.

Mid volume CD production is currently undertaken using traditional silk-screen methods and often involves tooling and set up procedures. The new Project 37D is a fully automated machine that can handle print runs of up to 1000 CD's per hour whilst providing on-press proofing and photo-realistic image quality. The Project 37D is expected to open up the CD and DVD printing market to general printing companies looking to broaden their offering as well as traditional silk screen printing companies that are seeking to migrate to digital technology.

“Within the print industry, there is definitely a shift from silk screen printing towards more modern digital print solutions,” said Steve Woods. “Digital print technology provides much more flexibility with regards print volumes and the handling of multiple versions of say a software package or DVD. In addition to this, there are no tooling requirements, no setting up or handling of films or screens and less labour. The whole process is controlled from a PC and is fast and very effective, making it, commercially, a very attractive technology for the competitive CD and DVD printing market.”

The original Project 37 machine targeted the high volume industrial CD and DVD printing market whereas the new 37D has all the same attributes but has been scaled down to meet the needs of the medium volume production runs. The Project 37D is less expensive and takes up less room than the current Project 37 design but uses the same internal technology that provides high picture and text definition, a fully automated CD and DVD handling process and also provides each CD with a protective UV coating.

“The 37D contains a lot of powerful technology and will offer CD printers the opportunity to improve both the quality of their print and also the level of service that they can offer their customers,” said Steve Woods. “Whether it's the ability of our colour matching software to ensure consistent print performance over large and fragmented print runs, or the fact that a job change can take only 10 seconds, or the fact that our inkjet control software can save up to 30% on ink costs, we feel sure that the Project 37D will further establish Copytrax as a leader in the development of technology for digital printing solutions.”

For CD and DVD printers interested in exploring the benefits of moving to digital print technology, Copytrax hold regular demonstrations at their Cambridge based factory. Copytrax can also provide detailed cost analysis information that provides a valuable insight into the cost benefits of using digital print technology for industrial printing.

Copytrax Promises Faster, Better and Cheaper CD and DVD Printing

Leading developer of CD and DVD printers, Copytrax, has announced the availability of a new 'colour management' technology that they say will enable CD and DVD duplication companies to increase profitability and provide better quality print on optical disc media.

Steve Woods, MD Copytrax

Whilst developing their Project 37 bulk CD and DVD printing machine, Copytrax has introduced a new technology that automatically calibrates the machine to take into account performance and colour variations due to the differing surface profiles of CD's and DVD's, inconsistencies in ink types and the variable performance of the actual print heads. This colour management technology is now available for their Picasso smaller batch machines, both as an upgrade to many Picasso machines that exist worldwide and also as a new feature to all future Picasso CD and DVD printing machines.

"The Copytrax Colour Controller product that we are rolling out is being very well received," said Steve Woods, Managing Director of Copytrax. "In the past, a kind of trial and error approach has been used to set up a machine for CD and DVD printing, to ensure the colours are correct and the overall quality is acceptable. Those involved in CD printing will know that this is very time consuming and very wasteful. The new technology completely automates this process, enabling far more time to be dedicated to profitable production and also offers a consistently higher quality of print."

Copytrax claims that the new colour management technology also saves on ink costs, as the previous approach often led to 'over inking'. The new system enables the operator to use only the minimum ink required and has proven to save up to 20% on ink usage.

"Another major benefit of the new colour management systems is that it will set an industry standard," said Steve Woods. "It will enable CD and DVD printers to produce consistent colour performance when printing a CD or DVD, especially when the CD or DVD production is spread across different machines and different geographical locations. In fact, the calibration data can be stored as a file, so that you can be sure that future print runs will also be an identical colour match."

Copytrax are also celebrating the winning of a UK Research and Development Grant that will help fund enhancements to their Project 37 industrial CD and DVD printing machine. Although Copytrax are reluctant to disclose any information about this new project, it is understood that it will further enhance the commercial performance of the Project 37 machines and also address environmental issues relating to CD and DVD printing technologies.

"We are really pleased with this Award," said Steve Woods. "We feel that this shows that Copytrax is valued for its role within the Cambridge Technology sector and acknowledges the effort and expertise that Copytrax invests in this field. Copytrax to Exhibit CD Printing Technology at GITEX Exhibition in Dubai

Cambridge technology company, Copytrax is to exhibit its latest CD printing technology at the hi-tech GITEX exhibition to be held in Dubai from the 8th – 12th September.

Copytrax is a world leader in the development and manufacture of CD printing and coating technologies and has recently announced the release of the Project 37 series of industrial CD and DVD printing machines.

“We have had a lot of interest in this region, “ said Steve Woods, Managing Director of Copytrax. “In addition to the exhibition we have a number of important meetings set up, so we are confident that this will be a very worthwhile venture. In addition to this, we have several new announcements about our digital print technology, so this event is a good opportunity for us to communicate our recent developments to the marketplace and to demonstrate our equipment.”

Copytrax has recently announced the release of its Project 37D machine, an industrial digital CD and DVD printing machine that will target mid volume production runs and has been jointly developed with Sun Chemical who will also be sharing the Copytrax stand. In addition to this, Copytrax has recently released its Colour Server Technology, a software package that enables printers to rapidly achieve perfect colour matching and reduced ink costs.

“On the stand, we’ll be running our popular Picasso CD printing machine,” said Steve. “This is one of our smaller automated machines that are used for lower volume CD and DVD print runs. These machines are pretty impressive, so we expect them to draw considerable attention.”
The GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK builds upon the global interest in the Middle East's ICT landscape by presenting a power-packed week of dedicated trade segments, which includes GITEX Business Solutions, GULFCOMMS and Consumer Electronics. Focusing on the region's fastest growing sectors, this event will deliver forums for key buyers and decision-makers from across the region. Each of the segments will provide a targeted industry platform to meet and do business whilst also offering professionals a one-stop shop for the ICT market. www.gitex.com

Copytrax Artcoater set to take on the US and Australia

Copytrax have announced that they have agreed distribution, support and maintenance for their acclaimed 'Artcoater' UV coating technology in both the US and Australia.

The Artcoater provides a very fine protective finish for inkjet printed CD's and DVD's, providing protection for the artwork from smudging and handling. The automated Artcoater handles up to 250 discs using UV (Ultra Violet) technology to apply a clear coating of approximately 3 microns evenly over the printed surface of the disc resulting in 'instant-dry' which enables operators to place the disc directly into a PVC wallet without sticking.

"We've been supplying this machine to companies around the world for several years now," said Steve Woods, Managing Director of Copytrax. "It's proven to be a great product and we are excited to have the opportunity to improve our international sales channels and enhance the services that we provide to our clients in the US and Australia."

Inkjet printed discs offer the benefits of full digital print 'Direct-to-disc-surface'. With this technique, the image resolution is extremely high, however water-based inks are at risk of smudging when exposed to moisture. The Artcoater was developed to address this concern and has enabled the production of low to medium volume, high quality on-body print for CD and DVD based products.

Copytrax's 'Infinity' bulk ink system saves up to 60% in print costs

The new Picasso CD and DVD printing machine from Copytrax is yet another example of how Copytrax is applying its technical leadership to meet the needs of the digital media industry.

The new Picasso uses Copytrax's propriety INFINITY bulk ink system. Four separate CYMK tanks provide a 2500 disc capacity** reservoir, each can be independently refilled, easily and quickly, ensuring that the operator only uses the ink needed and giving unprecedented low running costs.

In addition to the advantages of the Infinity ink system, the Picasso connects to the PC using USB, therefore enabling mutiple machines to be connected to a single PC. At a print quality to 5760 dpi each Picasso is capable of a through-put of up to 45 discs an hour*.

Stop Press... the Picasso is to be upgraded to use the advanced colour management software that has been developed for the Copytrax high end, Project 37 industrial CD/DVD printer. Contact Copytrax for more information.
