"The Artcoater has been a great success," said Steve Woods, Managing Director. "More and more CD and DVDs are being printed using digital inkjet technology as it can be much faster, cheaper, better quality and easier than screen printing. However, the artwork on a digitally printed disk can be vulnerable to smudging and scratches, the Artcoater provides the essential finish for these digitally printed CD's and DVD's." The Artcoater is a stand-alone 250-disc robot that automatically loads and unloads each CD or DVD, with a cycle time of approx 30 seconds. Using UV (Ultra Violet) technology, a clear coating of approximately 3 microns is applied evenly over the printed surface of the disc resulting in 'instant-dry', which enables the operator to place the disc directly into a PVC wallet without sticking. Copytrax's 'Adjustable Coating Head Technology' allows the user to fine tune the process to achieve the desired finish from full gloss to satin depending on preference and disc surface type. Clean and virtually odourless, the Artcoater has been designed to be used in a printing and duplication environment. "Most of the time, these machines are shipped alongside our Picasso CD printing machines," said Steve Woods. "Both machines are highly automated and provide companies with the capability to create a CD and DVD production facility. We've recently started shipping our machines as far away as the Middle East and Australia and we are currently working with a distributor in Canada, so we are feeling very optimistic about the future." Copytrax develop a range of machines for CD and DVD production. Their flagship machine is called Project 37, a machine that can digitally print 1200 CD's per hour and is used for the industrial volume production of CD's and DVD's. Copytrax's history dates back to the duplication of 'floppy disks' and they have since been a leader in the field of digital media reproduction.
