Copytrax Invests in Laser Cutting Technology for Print Jig Production
Copytrax has announced that it has invested in the very latest laser cutting technology, an investment that will help them manufacture jigs for the silk-screen and digital print industry. Already equipped with 3D CAD expertise, the new laser technology will enable Copytrax to rapidly design and produce bespoke jigs that are used to hold items whilst undergoing the printing process.
Steve Woods, holding an example of a print jig manufactured using Copytrax’s new Laser Cutter.
"Until now, the development and engineering of a print jig has been a major bottleneck in the setting up of a print job," said Steve Woods, Sales Manager at Copytrax. "There has been no fast solution and it has also been expensive, as the engineering work has had to be subcontracted. With the addition of the new Laser Cutter we can do the whole process in house, enabling us to offer a fast delivery, as well as being able to control the quality and accuracy."
The new laser cutter is able to accurately cut through foam and acrylics, producing multiple profiles of the products that need to be held during the printing process. Furthermore, Copytrax have pioneered a number of 'holding' techniques that speed the installation and removal of the products from the jig.

"The accuracy of the laser cutter is an important factor," said Steve Woods. "The jigs need to be very accurate to ensure that the position of the printing on the products is exact. Also, the jigs need to hold the products consistently accurately, so the hold and release mechanism does need to be well thought out. We also provide a “Software” template with every jig, this is taken from the same CAD dimensions to ensure the accuracy of the artwork."
Most of Copytrax’s jig work is for customers of their own digital print technology such as the Copytrax Printmaster.
The Copytrax PrintMaster enables the on-body printing of a wide range of materials and is currently being used in the engineering sector for the printing of such components as dials for electrical measurement instrumentation and dashboard equipment. The PrintMaster is ideal for instant samples and low to medium volume production of printed products.

“Now we have the new laser cutting machine in house, it will not only enhance the service that we offer our existing customers but we will also be providing our jig manufacturing services and laser cutting service to manufacturing and screen print companies in the Eastern region,” said Steve Woods.

"We are very impressed with the PrintMaster, said Simon Powell, Project Engineer at Horstmann. "We needed a machine that would be precise. We create the artwork in a matrix, as a layer within the AutoCAD file that we create for each design of meter. Using the PrintMaster we have the flexibility to print a specific number of scales of a specific design. It’s excellent."
The Copytrax PrintMaster employs the latest Epson Micro Piezo printhead technology and the latest ink technologies, enabling it to print on a wide range of surfaces and enabling it to deliver high-resolution graphics with a durable finish. For low to medium volume production, items are held precisely in the unique bespoke quick release jig system. The PrintMaster provides a more cost effective and more responsive solution than traditional screen-printing solutions. Using the PrintMaster is also a far cleaner process and can be used in a regular office environment.
"We are very happy with the PrintMaster," said Simon Powell. "We had a few technical issues to start with, but the support from Copytrax has been most impressive and these issues were quickly resolved.”
The Copytrax PrintMaster comes in a range of sizes for A4 to A2 and can be equipped to print on a diverse range of products and components. Copytrax also provides a range of machines for the printing and duplication of CD's, DVD's and Blu Ray discs.
"We have been working in the field of industrial inkjet printing for a number of years," said Steve Woods, Sales Manager. "The PrintMaster is one of the first machines to seriously challenge the role of screen and pad printing to small precision items. With the capabilities of the new ink technologies and the latest digital printheads, I think a lot more manufacturing companies will start to look towards an in-house digital solution that offers them better flexibility and a more cost effective green approach."

Copytrax Launch Faster CD Printer
Copytrax has announced the launch of a new version of their best selling Picasso CD Printer. The new Picasso “SPRINT” is up to 50% faster, offering CD duplicators and printers far higher productivity. Copytrax currently ship the Picasso CD printer to digital media duplicators around the world.
"For our customers, faster speed means bigger profits," said Steve Woods, Sales Manager at Copytrax. "The Picasso has always been an impressive machine, but this new version really does set a new bench mark for productivity in the duplication market."
The Picasso is a fully automated CD printing machine. Once loaded with blank CD's, DVD's or Blu Ray media, the Picasso operates unmanned via USB & now Ethernet. The performance improvement is mainly due to a new print engine with more nozzles and there has been a software upgrade. The new Picasso also maintains the existing 'bulk ink' system that reduces ink cost and enables longer production times between refills.
"We can now also offer the “Copytrax Colour Controller” a powerful Drag & Drop RIP software package that works with the Picasso machines to manage print quality and production, synchronising numerous machines with colour matching" said Steve Woods. "Many of our clients run a number of Picasso's on a network; this software package enables the entire production process to be managed from a single console."
Copytrax develops and manufactures a range of digital media duplication technologies and has distributors throughout the world. Their lower end products such as the ‘DaVinci’ have recently proven ideal for emerging duplication markets in countries such as India, Africa and the Middle East.
"We work hard to understand our market," said Steve Woods. "We then channel this knowledge into the design of the machines that we produce. Both the new high speed Picasso “SPRINT” and the introductory level DaVinci machine have both been driven by the demands of the marketplace."
The Picasso can handle up to 700 CD's unmanned. Using Piezo variable drop technology, the Picasso prints standard photo-brilliant images at 1440 dpi but can provide quality up to 5760 dpi with a spectrum over 16 million colours, enabling colour matching for on-disc reproduction of artwork.

Copytrax CD Publishing Machine Finds Medical Application
Copytrax has announced that their new NS2100 CD and DVD publishing machine has been chosen by the Medical illustration service of the Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals for the creation and duplication of training videos and interactive presentations relating to new procedures and surgical techniques.
The Copytrax NS2100 is a stand-alone machine that is able to copy data to either CD or DVD and is also able to provide full colour artwork to the disk, all in one operation. Being network enabled, multiple users can access the machine via a web browser over a network connection. The NS2100 is also supplied with an intuitive web-based software that enables the fast creation of professional quality artwork for the CD or DVD.
"This machine is ideal for us for bespoke presentations, where we will generally be generating quite low volumes, say twenty to a hundred," said Nigel Beardsmore, Medical Illustration Manager. "We are really impressed with the quality and speed with which it works, it is very good value. It is also very easy to use and everything does exactly as we were expecting. We are very pleased with the NS2100."
The Medical Illustration team at the Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals has up to five people creating discs in both a CD and DVD format. They also use a mixture of Mac and PC based machines running on a local network within the secure NHS corporate environment. The machine itself can be populated with blank DVD's and blank CD's and the user can select the format required whilst using the web-based software remotely.
"We are very proud of the NS2100," said Steve Woods, Sales Manager at Copytrax. "For any company or organisation that needs to regularly create low to medium volumes of digital media, this is the ultimate machine. Also, it's an attractive machine that can exist in an office environment. Compared to subcontracting the creation of digital media, the NS2100 will save a lot of money, will be faster and will offer maximum flexibility with regards to both volumes and design."
Using the NS2100 there is no need to install any client software or printer drivers. The artwork design software TrueNetLX resides within the machine itself. It is then accessed via an html browser over a network connection. All users access the system with the java-enabled web browsers already installed, so it does not matter if the user uses Windows (Vista, XP, 32 bit & 64 bit), Mac OSX or Linux. Users can start, stop, modify and monitor their jobs from within their web browser.
